call me nosy, but i love to see what a woman has in her handbag. we carry around the most practical, and impractical things, don’t we? the moment i see a blog spilling ‘what’s in the bag’, i click through to see if there’s something cool i need to know about! well, are you ready to see what’s in my brand spankin’ new 3.1 philip lim pashli? (not pictured, the handfuls of random lists and receipts)
lauren is such a gem. not only is her wildly successful style blog L.A in the Bay one of my daily reads, but she’s just the sweetest person. i love lauren’s blog because her philosophy matches my own: you don’t have to overspend to look great. you can always rely on lauren’s blog to keep you up to date on the latest fashion finds and she always includes all price points. enjoy a breath of fresh air and meet lauren!
who: Lauren Michelle Wickman
blog: L.A. in the Bay
what she’s wearing: H&M maxi dress, H&M Panama Hat, Max & Chloe monogram necklace, Toms Sunglasses, J. Crew bracelet, Michael Kors watch, Poshlocket cuff, flea market cuff, and vintage satchel.
fashion philosophy: You do not have to buy designer in order to look fabulous.
favourite item in her closet: My favorite item is probably my Eddie Bauer boyfriend jeans. I wear them ALL the time. Maybe too much. Next to that are my blazers. I probably have 15! Definitely my go-to item.
the next item she’d like to add to her closet: Oh boy. Just check out my Wednesday Wishlist posts and you will get an idea! But in all seriousness, I am in search for a new great hand bag. I have quite a few on my radar, such as a Rebecca Minkoff Boyfriend Cross Body Bag and the new sorbet colored Kate Spade Satchels.
how she ‘shops smart’: I actually pride myself on my cheap finds. I too often tell people, “I got it for $5!” instead of pretending that it cost a lot of money. Ha. Don’t women want to know about great deals?! I think so. Some of my favorite places to shop are Forever 21, H&M, and thrift stores. I make sure to look through everything and always re-imagine a piece and how it would work in my wardrobe. Some of my most complimented outfits are usually the cheapest!

if you look into my closet, you’ll find a tonne of black basics along with splashes of leopard and brights. i love starting off with an all black outfit and then topping it with a few statement pieces. a neutral shoe just seemed to be just the right tone to balance the look. with a hefty collection of purses, i’ll need to switch up my bag moving into spring and summer, but i’m just too fond of a lux carryall to give it a rest just yet!
a closer look at the statement necklace, which hangs nicely mid-chest or sits right on your décolletage depending on how you wear it:
this is a new feature that i’m calling “her way // your way” – we’re making the high end look our own, for less.
celebs have seemingly unlimited funds (not to mention professionals) to style themselves. us mere mortals do not, but we can look like we do! miranda kerr’s look is a simple one, but the high-waisted jeans with the lux bag and sunnies give it a certain polish.
asos flats ($58) // dior sunnies ($284) and a more affordable & unique version: asos ($21) // dooney & bourke bag ($287) // equipment top – this is the same one she’s wearing! ($188) // j brand jeans ($200) and a more affordable version: madewell ($125)
