happy new year! in all honesty, 2012 was a tough year full of so many ups and downs. i worked like a dog, lost my personal balance, met some wonderful people that i’m proud to call friends, strengthened existing relationships, and learned a lot about me and my weaknesses (and even some strengths). some hard lessons were learned that will carry me into 2013 a better person than i started out 2012 as, and i’m very glad for that! so, do you believe in new year’s resolutions? had you asked me last year, i would have said no, but this year, i feel differently; i’m even terming them personal revolutions and they are… [keep reading…]

i’m so in the “fall” frame of mind – has this little ode to fall helped get you in the mood, too? there’s something so special about the season! cozy is a major buzz word for me lately, and i’m pretty sure my bf is sick of hearing it (sh!t girls say: fall edition?).
i’ve already knocked a few must-do’s off my fall list like: cooking a tasty chili recipe, strolling along the beach with loved ones and a coffee, a bike ride around the seawall to enjoy the gorgeous colours, pie at savary island pie co., settling into a morning routine (more on that soon) and knocking a few items of my fall fashion wishlist!
for the rest of october and november, all i want to do is stay in the kitchen tinkering with recipes and curl up in a blanket with a book and a pumpkin spice latte. who’s with me?!

this is the era of online mags, i’m on totally on board! the pages of my faves are chalked full of fashion, decor, on-trend offerings and really interesting interviews with inspiring women in business. best of all, they’re free! i love to sit in bed all cozied up and read each of them cover to (virtual) cover. the digital format also makes it easy to source the cool things you’re reading about – many have hyperlinks built into the product photos so you can find what you need with one click… ok, so maybe that’s a tad dangerous! and, you can read each issue using most smartphones or tablets – flipping through the pages on-the-go.
i was recently asked to write an “insider’s guide to vancouver” on cheapflights.ca. since i always do a tonne of research before i travel, i loved the idea of spreading my insider knowledge to those who are mapping out a trip to my city. how daunting is it to just google “best restaurant in (fill in city)” or “fun activity in (fill in city)” and hope for the best judging by the photos etc.? you know you’re guilty of this, and sometimes, it really doesn’t turn out all that well! so, here’s my one stop shop if you’re visiting vancouver, or even if you’re looking to expand your horizons in the city including my favourite restaurants, clubs, museums, cold-weather activities and more.
