i don’t know about you, but i thought jesssica alba totally killed it at the golden globes last night. that gorgeous, buttery ombred, side-swept, old glamour hair (my guess is hotrollers!), the coral oscar de la renta dress that worked oh-so-perfectly against her olive skin, and the classy, yet dramatic necklace.
now let’s get to the really good stuff: that makeup. the makeup! believe it or not, it’s a very natural look, with a few strategically placed products for maximum impact… and a hit of tangerine on the lips. homerun! this makeup is a perfect example of how to play up your features in a not so in-your-face way. let’s break it down, shall we? (remember, you can use anything similar because this is such a simple look!)
- her eyes are played up with some sparkling gold shadow on the lids only. this complements her skin tone and her eye colour. she used hourglass visionaire eye shadow duo in dune
- smudging a black kohl eyeliner on the outer corner of her eyes warms them up and gives that sultry doe-eyed thing she’s got going on in spades. hers is hourglass film noir kohl eye pencil in espresso
- don’t be fooled, she’s wearing a whack of false lashes on the outer corner of her eye. starting from halfway, glue on individual lashes, not the strip variety – i show you how in a video tutorial, here. i would suggest these make up for ever lashes!
- her face is quite matte (probably because shimmer can show up as oily in front of the million flashes), and she has just a hint of blush on the apples of her cheeks and some very blended bronzer under the cheekbones. she used hourglass illume crème-to-powder bronzer duo in sunset
- her brows are au naturel – just filled in ever so slightly
