fashion friday: shopping trip

October 12, 2012

the moment i found out i was heading to the US on business, i rubbed my hands together, and planned my shopping list. things in canada are more expensive, and we don’t have the shopping choice our brothas to the south do, hello target and nordstrom! i picked up a few things on my list, and a few things that weren’t (like the two blazers).

i prefer things that are timeless; maybe it’s a fear of looking back on my choices and saying “what was i thinking?!”, but i like to buy classic accessories in basic colours because i feel they will stand the test of time and i won’t have to swap them out with every passing trend. with accessories, i always go big, but that’s not always the case with clothing since i feel like you can pair a luxe accessory with a budget fashion find and make it look just as expensive.

the two blazers are from target and i bought them in different colours because when i find something i love, i buy it in multiples. they aren’t very well represented in the photos – the buttons are tortoise, the lining is a preppy blue and white seersucker print, and the collar is meant to be popped, because underneath, you’ll find a navy fabric. love those little details that make basic items special. and the price? obsessed!

i’ve coveted that tory burch wallet for years and finally took the plunge. i love ‘the robinson collection’ for it’s simple lines and matte textured leather… i even have a purse from the same series.

nars schiap is a must have statement lippy, and it was about time i picked it up… and yes, you can pull off this hot pink colour, too!

the classic coach wristlet was something i hadn’t planned on, but was looking for a solution to my big louis vuitton neverfull for neighbourhood walks with ava, local errands etc. – sometimes, you don’t need to bring everything you own, and this wristlet is perfect for the necessities like a bank card, phone and keys when you’re pocket free.

Packing an overnight bag and heading down to the land of “butta and oil” as we speak! Great finds…
