fashion friday: peplum love

June 22, 2012

peplum has been on a huge comeback run for almost a year. it’s an elegant, and retro shape characterized by the waist ruffle or flounce celebrating a woman’s waist to hip curve. originating in the 1940′s, it made a slight return in the 80′s and here we are now, seeing the style at every high street shop. i love the trend paired with a pencil skirt, and put together a little inspiration board for you. perk: it hides a tummy!

atlantic – pacific, white polka // girl with curves, sleeveless // fashion squad, jacket // alicia fashionista // atlantic – pacific, white and floral

a few more choices at fantastic price points, including some plus size options:

sequin sleeveless top (plus) // basic black sleeveless // pencil skirt (plus) // black dress // leopard top

I’ve been on the fence about Peplum. But I love these examples, especially the polka dot one. Hmm, I just maybe sold. :)

Love the first one (black-red-white) but I couldn’t put my finger on who the outfit reminded me of. Oh wait… Minnie Mouse! lol. Still love it and would definitely wear it.
    Happy Friday!

i feel like it camouflages any problem areas while defo emphasizing the waist!

it really camouflages what it needs to an accentuates the waist – i say give it a go! x
